So, it is already the 9th of October?! Tonight was Ward Temple Night. We went, and the other members of our ward that were at the temple were the Colbys and Sister Hartley. I got off a few minutes early and changed into some grubbies to switch out the battery in the Expedition, which by the way, is $18 away from being paid off. I will travel to the CU to transact that biznez tomorrow. Apparently I had purchased the previous battery from the very same auto zone [I have NO recollection of that] so I got the battery for $40 instead of $90. Whoop. Put the battery in, and the plastic handle had to be cut. I got the utility knife and immediately raked my knuckles across a piece of exposed sharp metal. Sweet!! So it has a new battery that should finish out our tour with the car. Stopped at Cinemark on the way home from the temple and got movie popcorn. Not many things better. Got taken on the M&Ms, though. Paid $3.50 for a box that LOOKED big, but contained a much smaller - smaller that what you would buy at a 7-11 - inside the box. Rip Off. What are you gonna do?
On a brighter note. Ever since conference, and after hearing Elder Holland's talk on the Book of Mormon, I have had a burning desire to read it for the umpteenth time. I have been working my way through the Doctrine & Covenants, so it is good to go and read the BOM again. I will still finish D&C also. Well, gotta go to bed!!

Some Days Off...
I took today off originally because I wanted to get out of going to a tabletop emergency exercise in North Irving. Since this Tuesday is our Stake Temple Day, I took Tuesday off. Now, I had to take Monday off and miss the staff meeting. So here I sit at the end of the first of five days off. But Saturday may prove to be my undoing... I had a memorial service scheduled for a member of our ward that passed away in a car wreck. It had to be cancel due to circumstances beyond our control. It would have happened at 11 am tomorrow. Then I have to preside at the Stake Bishops' Welfare Council, which starts at 3, Priesthood Leadership is from 4-5:30, the Adult dinner at 6, and the Adult session starts at 7, and should be over by 8:30-9. I will be able to relax a bit after the first meeting.
My sister Cathy is coming to town tomorrow! I am looking forward to her being here. I wont get to see her much until later tomorrow night. I hope to see the rest of my family as well.
We went to El Chico (EC) earlier today, and I realized that I like EC much better than El Fenix. I always thought it was the other way around, but I had their old fashioned tacos - beef, and this changed my opinion. It was just so DANG good! These are tacos with fried flour tortilla shells, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, cheese, beef and an avacado slice. Of course I put a healthy helping of hot sauce (now known as salsa), and viola! Que bueno! We had fun at dinner texting Porter the Texas pledge of allegience. We figured it would touch a nerve, and it did. Yee haw! After dinner we went to the movies and saw Julie & Julia. It was pretty good. Inspiring actually.

Let there be bowling
On the other hand...

Courtney and Jake and Andrew were not that good. We occassionaly got a strike or a spare. Even a blind elephant finds a peanut. Well, at least they look good. The weird deja vu thing about the event, was hearing the music I had heard in that very place thiry years prior. Sweet Home Alabama, Life's Been Good to Me So Far. I felt I had flashed back to the seventies. That would be neat....
Bowling Alley Fun...

We made the trek, on Andrew's birthday, to the bowling alley of my youth. We rent shoes that people that bowl have worn many times before us. We trust that the aerosol can has killed the toenail fungus that we fear is lurking in the deep recesses of bowling shoes. We find multi colored bowling balls and try to look dignified--or even competent--as we slings these things down the alley. Turns out on the second game that Mom pretty much spanks all of us... We wonder... is she a closet bowler? She bowls a 155. Oh well... beginners luck. Or is it?...
Good Week

Well it started on Saturday with Andrew's birthday. We did lunch at Benihana, took him to Sam's and bought him an iPod Nano - purple. It has 8 gigs of memory. Then we went to the youth dance and were tuckered out by the time that was over. Sunday was the anniversary of my Dad's death. I cannot believe it has been four years. So tonight was Jake's court of honor. He is an eagle scout!! Yes... here is a photo of the event. Jake Jones - Eagle Scout.
